Rockin’ Women Wednesday – Terri-Anne Leske
Every so often Facebook dishes up a golden friendships just by making a comment – and that’s how the self publishing story of Terri-Anne (TA) and I was born. A quick quip about how we help our clients self publish here at Food Health Wealth and next thing there’s a steady stream of Byron-Singapore Skype sessions.
A self-taught food photographer and devoted mother of three, TA and her family relocated to Singapore some time ago and live the expat life we occasionally read about, yet could probably never really imagine what it’s truly like. Take the well documented haze for example, which has lifted slightly in Singapore. TA is one of the most courageous, ambitious and creative mums I have ever met.
During our cyber months together TA found herself and her family housebound due to the haze, juggling the major creative project of birthing her first book, trying to cope with not being able to run outside, or take the kids out to play. Frustrating to say the least! Somehow we managed to bring her beautiful book, Carrotsticks and Cravings, together. Bouncing between creatives from Byron Bay, Singapore, Shanghai and Thailand – seriously – a massive feat that was not without obstacles.
What resulted is a triumph of a book, a stunning tribute to her home cooking, her family and her skill as a photographer. Every recipe image has been photographed by her, and her creative vision and design brief flourishes on every page. At the time of writing TA had sold over 75% of her initial print run!
Imagine the clink of the crystal when we finally meet on my way back from launching the Aqua Season for Six Senses Maldives in May?! I now have the overwhelming joy to share a little about TA’s daily life with you – and a recipe. Please enjoy, I am truly proud of this girl and her project.

“Sam was amazing through my whole self publishing journey. She kept me on track and motivated the whole time with weekly meetings and daily communication and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without her. Her knowledge about self publishing & health and wellness was extremely helpful and inspirational and I can’t thank you enough Sammy for all of your help and guidance to bring my first book to life.”
I’m Terri-Anne, a happily married 20-something year-old wife & Mum of 2.5 year-old twins, Eli and Olivia & 3 month old daughter Hallie & I’m simply passionate about cooking.
My food philosophy is all about keeping things in moderation; I’m really good 80% of the time and a little indulgent 20% of the time. I’m all about super foods & creating healthy recipes during the week but when the weekend hits, nothing makes me happier than hosting dinner parties and creating decadent dishes to plate up to family and friends.
All the recipes posted are my own creation. I find inspiration from family, friends, cookbooks and my travels and often try to recreate recipes I’ve enjoyed at restaurants, while also putting my own healthy spin on it.
I can guarantee that all my creations are tried and tested on my wonderful husband Tom, (who when we first met thought that ice cream and potatoes were food groups). God love him!
My mum taught me her creative cooking skills and one day I hope I can teach my kids a thing or two in the kitchen and dream of them loving to cook as much as I do. I hope you enjoy my recipes and get a little inspiration along the way!
