Rockin’ Women Wednesdays – Dani Stevens
Meeting Dani Stevens was like coming home. A kindred spirit with a bigger smile than mine embraced me mid-chew from the table at Targa, a fave hang in Byron Bay. Within seconds I felt like I’d been hanging with this 40 something mum of two boys Noah, Oscar, and two girls Mietta and Zali, plus hubby Adrian – all of my life!
Don’t you just love how the Universe brings folks together? It was only days earlier that I’d been alerted to her Instagram VDO post of Oscar flipping a breakie egg to have with the divine new flavours called Down 2 Earth I created for Chris’ Dips! And here she was, freshly relocated to the Byron Shire with her brood in tow, ready for action and anything life throws her way. What a rockin’ chic! Love at first bite, and if you haven’t met this goddess of goodness yet, take a scroll down the page and get to know her. She’s tops!
Being a Mum to 4 children I am really passionate about food. I get inspired by my family’s faces, comments and compliments as I present them with their meals every day, my Mums Serbian cook books (and Dads Croatian dishes too), searching my left over ingredients (in the pantry or fridge) on Google to find a new recipe to cook every day, my travels and trying to perfect our “clean eating” habits.
1. What’s your survival food when you’re on tour, travelling or working late in your business?
Any local farmers market or fresh food outlet. It’s amazing what we can create without cooking. Fresh is always best with us. Especially when we travel, it’s so accessible at every town we go to. We never leave home without;
- Plenty of greens
- Bottles of water
- Our 3 C’s (Capsicums Cucumber Carrots)
- Best vegetables to dip in hummus (or Chris’ Dips!)
- Loads of fruit
We call it our snack box which is located in the centre of our car and our kids nibble throughout our 10-20 hour car trip journeys.
2. What’s your healthy go-to comfort food – either at home or in a restaurant?
We always have rocket in the fridge so I whip up these 3 classic ROCK IT salads. You can add any meat dishes or legumes if you are vegetarian.
You can’t ever go wrong!
3. Do you have a secret remedy that keeps either your voice / mind / body in shape?
Moving my body 15 minutes per day is paramount to keep up with our 4 kids under 9! But so too is chilling out even if it’s for 2 minutes (that’s gold!) We just recently moved from country Victoria to the Northern NSW coastline so I took some time out to chillax here & soak up this amazing place.
